Peer Counseling & Support with a Gender Advocate
Everyone’s gender congruence journey is unique. Wherever you are in your journey, our trans-identified, peer counselors (Gender Advocates) are here to support you.
Gender Advocates are not medical professionals, mental health professionals, legal professionals, or licensed social workers. We are trans people helping other trans people achieve a sense of gender congruence, navigate institutions, access affirming services and seek reparations when they’ve been harmed.

Schedule a conversation with a Gender Advocate if you:
- Want to discuss aspects of your gender with a trans-identified, affirming individual.
- We are always here to listen and support you.
- We hold space for gender exploration and curiosity.
- We help you identify avenues to gender congruence and your personal congruence goals.
- We support you as you work through limiting fears.
- We guide you to develop a self-care plan that can help mitigate feelings of gender dysphoria.
- Are ready to pursue medical congruence measures (ie. hormonal therapy, surgical interventions) and are hoping to discuss your options, questions, and concerns -OR- have a medical congruence procedure scheduled and are looking for support with your after-care preparations.
- We provide referrals to affirming services and medical professionals.
- We support you in creating a Care Plan for post-surgery care and wellness.
- We help you create a financial plan for accessing medical interventions. We can help you:
- Navigate insurance coverage and out-of-pocket costs.
- Create a crowdfunding/mutual aid campaign.
- Apply for microgrants.
- We leverage your existing support networks to help you find post-surgery support. We can help you:
- Create a schedule of post-surgery care.
- Create a community call-to-action.
- Specify your needs for post-surgery support (ie. physical, medical, emotional, meal prep).
- When possible, we strive to match you with a Gender Advocate whose personal medical congruence experiences reflect your own.
- Are seeking support with your professional, scholastic, or familial relationships.
- We listen and provide support around relationships with people in your life who may be inhibiting your sense of gender euphoria due to their gender incompetency or transphobia.
- We work with you to brainstorm ways you can navigate these relationships to limit the impact and emotional burden on you and increases your sense of gender congruence and authenticity.
- Ready to have a challenging conversation with a boss, coworker, family member, or friend? We are happy to practice with you to boost your confidence and work through your fears
- Experiencing chronic misgendering or transphobia in a workplace, educational setting, medical setting or scholastic setting? We are happy to facilitate restorative conversations on your behalf.
Gender Advocates provide peer counseling and affirmative guidance with the ultimate goal of helping trans and non-binary folks to thrive. We support you as you envision and achieve your own sense of gender congruence.
When you submit a request for individual support services, you will be matched with a Gender Advocate who will reach out to schedule a 30-min introductory conversation with you to learn how they can best support you. Our support sessions are offered to trans and nonbinary folks free of charge for the first four sessions.*
*For ongoing support, we offer our Gender Advocate support sessions on a sliding scale basis or provide referrals to trans-affirming mental health providers.
